As the saying tends to go ‘all good things come to an end’ we knew that the time would come when Apple decide that enough is enough and attempt to put an end to the evasi0n jailbreak with their upcoming iOS 6.1.3 firmware update. As it looks right now, the vulnerabilities that were exploited in the evasi0n jailbreak from iOS 6.0 – 6.1.2 will actually be fixed during Apple’s next update. One of the members of Evad3rs and brains behind the evasi0n jailbreak, PlanetBeing has reported that Apple has patched one of the five exploits that the jailbreak tool uses to create the jailbreak on the device.
PlanetBeing, also known as David Wang was quickly interviewed with Forbes writer Greenberg and confirmed the inevitable…
The evasi0n jailbreak will most likely be patched in iOS 6.1.3.
An extract from the article and words from PlanetBeing himself :
“If one of the vulnerabilities doesn’t work, evasi0n doesn’t work,” he says. “We could replace that part with a different vulnerability, but [Apple] will probably fix most if not all of the bugs we’ve used when 6.1.3 comes out.”
So although it has not been officially confirmed all we can say for now is that at all costs if you intend on keeping your iOS 6 jailbreak then you MUST AVOID iOS 6.1.3 UPDATE. Enjoy the jailbreak on 6.1.2 and for safe keeping save your SHSH blobs just incase there happens to be a solution to downgrade in the future.
If you have not yet jailbroken your device then now would be a good time to do it, here’s how: how to jailbreak your device running iOS 6.1.2
What do you think, is the end for the Evasi0n jailbreak, share your thoughts below or on Twitter @iJailbreakthis
